Happy Fourth Lovey's!
Sorry I havent posted in a while, I got intoxicated with summer fever. Yes, I know its supposed to be "spring fever" but what the hay!
Anyway, in honor of Fourth Of July, I'm going to do a review of the most "All-American" person I can think of: Dolly Parton!
First a little background--
Dolly Rebecca Parton was born in Sevierville Tennessee on January 19th, 1946, the fourth child of TWELVE! Dolly's family was "dirt poor" as she puts it, and lived in a derelict one-room log cabin in Tennessee. Music was a part of her life from the very beginning, as she sang in the choir at church, where her grandfather was a "holy-roller" preacher. And the child just kept going up! Before age nine, she had appeared in The Cas Walker Show and by thirteen, she was recording at a small label in Louisiana. A real American dream right?
As far as her music goes, I'm a tad wishy-washy about it. Country isn't exactly my style, a bit to syrupy-sweet for me, but sometimes its great. She's got a real unique style and sound and she's such a funny little lady! My favorite quote from her is "I describe my look as a little Mother Goose, a little Cinderella, and a little of the local hooker!"
Is she amazing or what?
Alright loveys, and though I feel I'm betraying my country (hehehe) by speaking French,
je t'aime!
~M.
